What was the cast of 'American Crime Story' doing at the time of OJ Simpson verdict?Author : AZIndia News Desk
Mumbai, Feb 6(AZINS) The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story is currently the most talked about show on television today. What with their star-studded cast of mega movie star John Travolta, one of the most in-demand TV and movie actor David Schwimmer, the critics ever-favourite Sarah Paulson, Oscar-winning Hollywood actor Cuba Gooding Jr., the sensational Selma Blair and the intense Courtney B. Vance.
This series is set out to be different than Ryan Murphy's Glee, American Horror Story and Scream Queens because it is based on a true crime story based on basketball sensation and actor O.J. Simpson’s murder trial, a criminal case that shook America’s very foundation 20 years ago. The day of the verdict reportedly left the American economy drowning in a colossal loss output of $480 million.
But what was the cast of the show up to during the high-profile crime trial and verdict?
John Travolta mentioned that he was basking in the Pulp Fiction glory on the day of the verdict as the movie had just become a massive hit among the American audiences and he had also won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Travolta plays the role of Robert Shapiro - lead attorney on the defence team that defended O.J. Simpson during the murder trial.
David Schwimmer on the other hand stated that he was just done shooting for the pilot episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, the show that was his first real break as an actor and was extremely excited about what was to come. David Schwimmer plays the role of Robert Kardashian, the patriarch of the popular Kardashian family, who was O.J.’s best friend and on the team of defence as O.J. Simpson’s attorney.
It’s a surprise that both their projects Pulp Fiction and F.R.I.E.N.D.S became a huge hit among the masses since the timing for both couldn’t have been worse as they were both happening amidst all the craziness of the American media and citizens who sat glued to their TV during the trial and all day on the day of the verdict.
Cuba Gooding Jr. said he was at a friend’s house watching the New York Knicks game in Game Five of the NBA Finals. He was at the time introduced to the famous White Bronco chase which went on to become the most famous car chase in the history of crimes with about 20 police cars chasing O.J.’s white bronco while he had a gun to his head. Gooding thought O.J. would blow up his head on national television!
