Mumbai, Feb 9(AZINS) Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee is a British computer scientist who is better known as the inventor of the Internet or World Wide Web. Sir Berners-Lee is also the Director of the World Wide Web Consortium, the organisation responsible for maintaining international standards for the World Wide Web and Founder of the World Wide Web Foundation or webfoundation.org, an organisation dedicated "to establish the open Web as a global public good and a basic right, ensuring that everyone can access and use it freely"

Berners-Lee was one of the first pioneers of Net Neutrality, with the ideology that Internet service providers should supply Internet with “no strings attached” and should neither control or monitor users browsing activities.
In November 2009, Berners-Lee founded the World Wide Web Foundation with the goal of empowering humanity with the tools required to induce positive change.
