Whatsapp will end support for Blackberry and Nokia by 2017Mumbai, Feb 28(AZINS) Whatsapp turned seven years old about week ago and that seem to have awoken it's malevolent side, as the Facebook-owned company announced on via their official blog post that they will be discontinuing support for Blackberry and Nokia by the end of this year.

The company goes on to say that they will be ending support for the Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1, Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7.1 and BlackBerry (including BlackBerry 10.)

“While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future.” Said Whatsapp via their official blog post.

A bittersweet victory of sorts for Blackberry as they themselves avoided using Whatsapp in their latest flagship, the Priv.

If you're among the one billion Whatsapp users who own any of the mentioned devices, Whatsapp leaves you with one last bit of advice, “we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.”
