Mar 5(AZINS) Country singer Joey Feek has died after 22 months of cervical cancer battle. She was 40. Her husband and singing partner Rory Feek (Joey + Rory duo) said she died peacefully on Friday, March 4 at their home in Indiana, surrounded by family, reported Aceshowbiz.
Rory announced her departure on his blog with an emotional post. "My wife's greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven. The cancer is gone. The pain has ceased. And all her tears are dry," he wrote. "... At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying.. my precious bride breathed her last. And a moment later took her first breath on the other side."
Rory, 49, also posted a photo of their eldest daughter Heidi holding on to Joey's hand in the final hours. "...our oldest daughter Heidi by her mama's side last night. Holding on and letting go," he captioned.
There's also a video of the family watching Joey getting a taped surprise from Dolly Parton.
Joey was diagnosed with cancer in May 2014, just three months after giving birth to daughter Indiana. The cancer later spread to her colon and was inoperable, so they stopped all treatment. The doctors said she could not pass Thanksgiving 2015 but she beat the odds by celebrating Christmas and Indiana's second birthday in February.
Rory revealed that Joey would be buried at the couple's farm house in Pottsville, Tennessee.
