Google’s Opinion Rewards app lets you vote for what Android ‘N’ is finally namedMumbai, Mar 17(AZINS) Speculation has been rife--from Naankatai to New York Cheesecake, there are a ton of possible ‘N’-based ‘tasty treat’ name combinations for Google’s next version of their Android operating system.

Although it has been leaked that the internal three-letter name for their next OS is NYC (most likely translating to New York Cheesecake,) it is very unlikely this is going to make it to the final name at the time of unveiling. In the past, the three-letter acronym buried in developer version of the Android OS has never resulted in the actual name--KitKat was originally codenamed KLP (Key Lime Pie,) Lollipop was called LMP (Lemon Meringue Pie,) and Marshmallow was MNC (Macadamia Nut Cookie.)

However, Google is running a poll to assess what tasty treat users are veering towards--Google Opinion Rewards is an app that hosts all manner of polls and surveys in return for Google Play credits. Among these polls is one that is offering up a choice of options for Android N including Napoleon, Nut brittle, Nachos, Nori, Noodles, Nougat, and Neapolitan Ice cream.

In our opinion, Nachos is actually quite a nice choice--a welcome savoury deviation from the sweet treats that have been the mainstay of Android names up until now. Noodles would also be fun, and Nori sounds elegant. But Neapolitan Ice Cream is undoubtedly a mouthful.

However this time around we are gunning for an Indian sweet based name, as CEO Sundar Pichai teased a while ago.
