Self-lacing shoes are now real, and Nike's about to sell themAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Mumbai, Mar 17(AZINS) Nike just announced a super futuristic self-lacing pair of shoes called the HyperAdapt 1.0, typically meant for athletes or fitness professionals. The shoes combine digital, electric and mechanical engineering in a unique way.
Placing your foot into the HyperAdapt 1.0 will trigger a sensor that will tighten the shoe.
“When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” explains Tiffany Beers, Senior Innovator at NIKE and the project’s technical lead.
There are two buttons on the side that will tighten or loosen the shoe so that users can get that perfect fit.
A shoe that never gets loose will solve many athletes problems like a tripping over loose lasses or injuries resulting in slippage. Reduced slippage will also help athletes reaction time as constant pressure from shoes will give sportsmen the confidence to react as they think.
Tinker Hatfield, Nike shoe developer takes this idea one step further in a statement that sneakers will eventually sense when a shoe requires tightening or loosening and make the adjustment seamlessly.
“Wouldn’t it be great if a shoe, in the future, could sense when you needed to have it tighter or looser? Could it take you even tighter than you’d normally go if it senses you really need extra snugness in a quick maneuver? That’s where we’re headed. In the future, product will come alive,” he said.
