Puma revives the Disc in new laceless Ignite running shoeMumbai, Mar 19(AZINS) Global sports brand Puma has revived its lace-free fastening system that first launched in 1991. This Disc has been revamped in an Ignite running shoe--boasting updated technology and a sleek sleeve-like design--as well as a pair of athletic spikes.

Puma is back with an updated version of its original Disc shoe fastening system, created 25 years ago. "Puma took the original Disc design and made it lighter and sleeker. It's quicker to turn, faster to tighten, and features smooth, durable steel wires to conform the foot," the brand announced.

Puma's Disc found fame when Colin Jackson took gold for Great Britain in the 110m hurdles at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany in the brand's Disc spikes. German athlete Heike Drechsler also wore Disc spikes when she jumped to gold in the long jump event at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, the 100m and 200m record holder and Puma brand ambassador, will be donning the new evoSPEED Disc spikes for upcoming competitions.

Puma bills its new Ignite shoe as a comfortable and lightweight sneaker that's quick to get on and offers optimal foot support, foam cushioning and breathable mesh.

The Ignite Disc running shoe and evoSPEED Disc athletic spikes are available now from Puma stores, specialist sports retailers and from puma.com, priced $130 (approximately Rs 8,620).
