Welcome to Instagram, Pope Francis, says Mark ZuckerbergMumbai, Mar 20(AZINS) The 266th and current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis joined the photo-sharing network site Instagram on Saturday.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Facebook welcomed Francis and said he is looking forward to follow the Pope.

He wrote on Facebook, "No matter what faith you practice, we can all be inspired by Pope Francis’s humility and compassion."

"I’m looking forward to following the Pope -- and watching him continue sharing his message of mercy, equality and justice with the world," he added.

Pope Francis made his debut on Instagram under the name 'Franciscus'.

Instagram was acquired by Facebook in April 2012 for $1 billion in cash and was launched in October 2010, created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger.

The photo-sharing platform has over 300 million as of December 2014.
