Kindle users gets final warning to update before March 22 or no online servicesMumbai, Mar 21(AZINS) If you own an Amazon Kindle e-reader then it is important that you pay heed to the latest warning from Amazon. The company announced that Kindle owners need to update to the latest OS by March 22 or they will lose Internet connectivity.

Without an Internet connection users will not be able to partake in the various online services on their e-book like sync your device with the cloud or Kindle Store.

“Customers using an outdated software version on Kindle e-readers require an important software update by March 22, 2016 in order to continue to download Kindle books from the Cloud, access the Kindle Store, and use other Kindle services on their device,” said Amazon in a statement on their website.

According to Amazon, the update is necessary to keep up with the changing industry web standards.

Users who miss the deadline will start noticing this message on their device whenever they try to connect to Kindle's online services :

“Your Kindle is unable to connect at this time. Please make sure you are within wireless range and try again. If the problem persists, please restart your Kindle from the Menu in Settings and try again.”

If you have been using your Kindle regularly and connecting via Wi-Fi then you probably have this update already as the devices automatically updates over Wi-Fi however, if your e-book has been out of battery or turned off for a while then it is recommended that you charge it up and complete the update.

Users will know if their Kindle is up to date when they see "03-2016 Successful Update" on their device or they can check for it by looking ‘Recent items’ in ‘Kindle Library’ on their device.

The following devices don't need this update:

- Kindle Paperwhite (6th and 7th generation)

- Kindle Paperwhite 7th Generation (2015)

- Kindle 7th Generation

- Kindle Voyage 7th Generation

The following devices need to get the update:

- Kindle 1st Generation (2007)

- Kindle 2nd Generation (2009)

- Kindle 4th Generation (2011)

- Kindle 5th Generation (2012)

- Kindle Touch 4th Generation (2011)

- Kindle Paperwhite 5th Generation (2012)

Amazon mention that users with the Kindle Keyboard 3rd Generation (2010), Kindle 4th Generation (2011), Kindle 5th Generation (2012), Kindle Touch 4th Generation (2011) and Kindle Paperwhite 5th Generation (2012) will have to update their devices via Wi-Fi while the others can update via Wi-Fi or with their 2G/3G connections.
