'Dota 2' details 2016 world tournamentApr 2(AZINS) Now in its fifth year and one of the world's biggest eSports competitions, the 2016 "Dota 2" world championship--or The International, as it's known--will take place August 8-13 in Seattle, USA.

Ticket sales for the multi-million dollar prize event will start on April 7 via Ticketmaster, and will be released in two batches: one at 10am PDT, the other at 10pm (April 7 5pm and April 8 5am, UTC).

For 2016's event, and in a change from previous Internationals, there are two types of tickets.

Midweek tickets are to retail for $75 (approx Rs 5,000), the pass covering the tournament's first four days.

That grants access to Seattle KeyArena for what, in most previous editions of the International, have been Group Stage matches, with 16 5-person teams from around the world usually ready to compete.

A separate $100 pass, the Finals Ticket, relates to August 12 and 13.

Though there's no reduction for buying both tickets, there is an incentive for those with Midweek Passes to stick around regardless. They'll be admitted to a large outdoor viewing area on the KeyArena grounds where they'll be able to watch the final two days.

But inside the stadium, there's a nice little kicker for devoted fans who are watching the event in person; when the first significant gain of a match is made--First Blood, in "Dota 2" terminology--500 present will receive an exclusive digital character costume to use during their own games.

The free-to-play "Dota 2" is Valve's most successful game in terms of daily player numbers, topping its most-played chart on a daily basis and frequently by orders of magnitude over others in the Mac, Windows and Linux platform's top ten.

It has also become known for offering the single largest prize pot in eSports, with a multi-million pool boosted by crowdfunded contributions.

2015's $18.4m pool nearly doubled 2014's $10.9m, for example, as fans bought up copies of a digital compendium in support of the tournament.

Purchaser perks included enhanced access to multiple video streams as well as a slew of in-game items, challenges, and cosmetic mementos, and while 2016's prizes have yet to be detailed, another record-breaking fund would not be out of the question.
