Encrypted instant messaging app Signal now available on Chrome in open betaAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Mumbai, Apr 8(AZINS) Signal was launched earlier in December last year, a private messaging desktop app with end to end encryption. While the service was then only available to a finite number of users in closed beta, the app has now been opened to the public in open beta.
Signal, developed by Open Whisper Systems, is a Chrome extension that can also be synced to smartphones. The encrypted chats also allow private groups, and photo and video sharing. In a blog post, the company has stated it's made improvements to the app, based on feedback from the closed beta.
The app is free to use, just like it's Android and iOS counterparts, and lets you send fully encrypted, secure texts via an internet connection. The app description says "The server never has access to any of your communication and never stores any of your data".
