An Israeli startup wants to sell you a military-grade secure phone for US $10,000Mumbai, Apr 26(AZINS) A Tel-Aviv based startup is building what they hope to be the most secure smartphone in the world, for consumer usage. The catch? It’s expected to cost about US $10,000.

According to an interview with TechCrunch, Sirin Labs, the company working on the smartphone “Solarin”, says they’re building “the most advanced mobile device with the highest privacy settings. They recently raised US $72 million in funding (on top of US $23 million in 2013) to build what they’ve dubbed the “Rolls Royce of smartphones.” The phone is expected to be revealed in May at Sirin Labs’ flagship store in London.

Solarin seems to be targeted at top executives in major companies. As founder Moshe Hogeg says, “91% of Fortune 500 companies are under cyber attacks, but companies can’t use a military phone because they usually lack all the apps that consumers use.”

But while the phone supposedly packs military-grade encryption and security features, reports indicate Solarin will run on an Android-based custom OS, meaning users will have access to apps that might not be available to them on other encryption-focused smartphones. However, nothing else has yet been revealed about the hardware in the phone, or even what it might look like.
