Technology helps woking mothers connect with their childrenAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
May 8(AZINS) The latest gadgets and technology has come handy for the working mothers, who have multiple responsibilities of managing home, kids and office.
It's proven that mothers can take better care of the child and are also capable of swiftly stepping into the dual role. However, to ensure that while they are busy working, they do not miss out on their growing children, the city mothers are embracing technology, which helps them to keep a tab on their kids once they are away from home.
Even while in office, a mother doesn't want to miss the opportunity of watching her child grow, and many mothers say technology has come across as a blessing. Technology and apps allow mothers to watch their child grow and makes their life convenient.
"As I am working, I don't get enough time to spend with my 10-year-old daughter and it's only on the weekend that I get to spend some quality time with her. I want to spend more time and see her grow," said Phalguni Patel, a city resident.
Patel said it was the worry and fear of her daughter growing up without her presence that tempted her to log on to Facebook. "Though it was surprising for her, but now we are more close to each other and I even get to know about her bunch of friends, which is a big relief. I am also connected with her on Instagram and WhatsApp," said Patel.
The bond between a child and a mother is special and as an expression of gratitude to celebrate Mother's Day today, many children have plans to gift smart gadgets to their mums for the special day and also make sure that they remain in constant touch.
"For me, technology has not widened gaps, but has brought us closer. Though it does not mean that I don't spend time with my family and kids, but yes, being connected with them on Facebook and other networking sites have eased our worries," said Ishita Majumdar, a mother of two sons aged 12 and 6 years.
She added that she cannot leave her career, but at the same time, cannot afford to miss guiding her children and not be available for them 24x7. "So, I am friends with my kids on their networking profiles. Being technology-friendly makes us more understanding and of course, we respect each other's privacy," she added.
A city-based psychiatrist opined that if a working woman has not much to worry about her kids and if she is able to monitor her kids, then this directly reflects on her efficiency at work and such women deliver best as they don't have an unnecessary diversion to worry about.
While women are becoming technology-friendly, many corporate offices, too, have taken positive steps and are well-equipped with all the gadgets for the mothers. Also, in addition, some places also spare time and give independence to a working mum to check on their kids' activity and be in touch with them.
"Be it on Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, or any other portal, I am in constant touch with my kid and can virtually see her growing in front of my eyes. Her status updates and a group of friends and recent activity, everything is completely open to me and I can proudly say that I don't miss being with her every time," said another mother citing anonymity.
