Google to release new high-end Chromebooks this yearAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
Mumbai, May 20(AZINS) If Chromebooks aren't your thing because they aren't specced high enough then you'll be happy to hear that Google plans to cater to a larger market with high-end Chromebooks.
The search giant made an announcement during their I/O conference that they will be working with product manufacturing partners like Samsung, to bring new high-end gear to the mainstream public.
At the moment, Chromebooks don’t have the hardware to handle many Android app on Chrome OS which is probably the reasoning for why the company feels that this move is needed. Considering that the company wants to launch Android apps on Google’s web browser, it isn't surprising that the company is upgrading their hardware as well.
“Today we announced that we’re adding the best mobile app experiences in the world, Android apps and the Google Play store, to the best browser in the world, Chrome! Come to this session and test your Android apps for Chrome OS. You will get hands-on help from our friendly engineers on how to optimize your Android app for Chromebooks,” said the company on May 19, on its Google I/O website.
It hopes to bring the apps to a beta version in the next few months and then finally to Chromebooks.
As of now, the company is sketchy on details, but it did say that ‘new hardware’ that will support Android apps on Chrome OS is to be expected later this year.
Google hasn't announced an official release date though it is rumored that the company will roll out three new devices sometime in June.
