This Android kit turns smartphone into 'Game Boy'Author : AZIndia News Desk
New York, June21(AZINS) A US-based video game peripherals company has designed a kit that can turn your Android smartphone into hand-held consoles that can play "Game Boy" and "Game Boy Color" games, a media report said.
Designed by Hyperkin, the $60 "Smart Boy Development Kit" is available for pre-orders and will start shipping from December 1, tech website wired.com reported.
The retro Android case plugs into any appropriately-sized Android phone running KitKat 4.4.4 or above via microUSB.
According to the company's website, Hyperkin is including an open source serial app and firmware to let developers turn the Smart Boy into a "retail-ready model".
Hyperkin is offering a percentage of retail-ready Smart Boy units to anyone who improve its app and firmware so it's ready for a wide-scale public release, the report noted.
The "Game Boy" was an 8-bit handheld video game device developed and manufactured by Nintendo. It was first released in Japan on April 21, 1989 and was the first handheld console in the Game Boy line.
