Aidan Turner backed as next James BondAuthor : AZIndia News Desk
London, Sep 16 (AZINS) Actor Aidan Turner is being backed by his colleague and actor Robin Ellis to portray the role of James Bond, a popular fictional character.
Turner, 33, is best known for his roles as Kíli in the three-part fantasy film "The Hobbit" and has now been tipped to take on the role of James Bond in the popular film franchise, reports mirror.co.uk.
Ellis, who earlier essayed the role of Captain Ross Poldark in 29 episodes of the BBC classic series "Poldark", while Turner portrays the same role in the recent remake of the show.
Talking about Turner's chance of playing James Bond, 74-year-old Ellis said: "I like Aidan. I think he's doing a wonderful job as Ross. He looks great and has a brooding presence. He's registered enormously with the public, and that's terrific.
"I think he'd be an excellent Bond. Aidan is a good actor, and the first 007, Sean Connery, was a very good actor. Aidan is quite capable of doing that part. Good luck to him if he gets it. I'll be very pleased for him."
Ellis's backing comes after it was recently revealed that Turner's name had made it onto the shortlist of actors that MGM officials were looking at to cast as the spy if actor Daniel Craig continues with his threat to quit the franchise.
Other names that made the cut include actors Idris Elba, Luke Evans, and Tom Hiddleston.
